Harry, Ted, and Jason arrived safely with only a minor change of plans for their airplane. We have word from the departing team that they arrived safely and ON TIME to Miami. Some are departing for Chicago and the others are settled in for their overnight before returning to Indianapolis in the morning.
Pastor Jean had a busy day with a wedding and four baptisms up in the mountains, a quick trip to the airport to pick up Harry, Ted and Jason and then a funeral for Rodny St Clair the elder son of our good friend Matieu St Clair and brother to Dr. Max St Clair the young man we have watched grow from a boy at the Boudouin School to a successful doctor practicing medicine in his home town of Jeremie.

Nine of our stalwart team members have departed for Port au Prince and Miami. They spent the night at an alternate guesthouse because there was no room for them at the primary inn. This morning, depending on traffic, they will take a short drive around tour of Port au Prince and depart fom there to Miami on the 12:30 flight.
Debi, Gina and David are spending the day in town doing housekeeping and sewing and then going to funeral for the brother of a very good friend. Harry, Ted, and Jason are expected about noon pending traffic in Port au Prince. Traffic may be a real problem because former President Aristide returned to Haiti after seven years in exile. The runoff elections for President are tomorrow and everyone is anioux to see if Aristide makes any kind of announcement. The people love him dearly and what ever he says will most assurdedly happen.

All round bad day, we got NOTHING accomplished. No fill material was delivered for the floor so we could not pass buckets. After sitting around all afternoon we came home with nothing to show for the day.

We did not go to the worksite today. The team went to Gommier for a medical clinic and clothing distribution. They should return to the house for lunch and then off to the airport.
As it turns out Tortug is bringing in a charter flight and would be going back so they have agreed for our team to fly back today. There are apparently three teams scheduled for Saturday morning so we are going to leave early and not take the a chance.
BIG NEWS! Former President Aristide just arrived at at the Port au Prince airport after seven yeas in exile. The streets are bedlam with cheering supporters. The only question now is traffic to get from the airport to our alternate guesthouse this afternoon and back to the airport in the morning. God willing the team will make all their connections and be home Sunday morning.

From a construction standpoint, we had a great day. The block walls are now thirteen blocks high, columns are all poured six blocks high and the forms and steel work are all thirteen blocks high. We needed two more commions (dumptrucks) of fill material for the floor. The first one arrived at 1:00pm and said he would quickly return with the second. The team and the Haitians jumped on that pile of rock like a Biblical swarm of locusts and after an hour and afifteen minutes all seven (yes 7) tons of material had been transported in hands, buckets, and empty cement sacks inside the church spreadout and leveled. It was and IMPRESSIVE SIGHT to behold. The truck arrived about an hour later just as we were preparing to leave.

I’m Mike Sitzman with C.R.O.S.S. Ministries from Osceola, Iowa. I have been blessed with the oppurtunity to join David’s team here in Haiti. Today was a very special day for us. We had met a little old woman who is said to be 100 years old. We decided to put together a gift packet for this woman. Things like fruit bars, crackers, fruit cups and candies. Along with this a friend of mine gave me two $5 bills for this mission. He said I would know who to give them to and I knew in my heart this little lady was one of them. After we found her today we moved her away from the crowd and shared our gifts for her. That look on her face would break any man’s heart. For there but by the Grace of God stands my Mom or Grandma. With tears in her eyes she thanked us and blessed us for what we had done for her. Not just the food or the money but the unconditional love from complete strangers. That is what she was gratful for. We couldn’t speak the same language but we didn’t need to. For we were speaking in God’s language, the language that Jesus Christ told us to speak, the language of love for one another. The moment was a blessing for each of us there. It was an oppurtunity for us to expirence what we all work towards, His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

Today has been a real rollercoaster day. We started out with a routine travel day for team two as we met new friends for the first time, loaded the plane and departed Miami. As we arrived in Port au Prince , we discovered that plans had changed once more. Instead of the chartered planes that David had arranged, we flew Haiti’s newest airline Sunrise Airlines. We drew a freshly painted but strangely familiar plane all of thge team and all of our luggage made it.
After a light lunch we went to Good Samaritan home for a visit. Two of the elderly women were illand very weak. We prayed for them, fed them a bit of a soft gtranola bar and some water and prayed some more and sang a hymn. These two saints of the church are at the end of their time and will soon return to Jesus Christ.
As we left the nursing home, a very distraught Dr. Max stopped us and told us that his brother, the eldest son had just been killed in a bus accident on his way to Jeremie from PAP. For those of you that don’t know him, Max was the young man thta we first met at the Boudouin School project many years ago. Through the years we have suppoted Max as he has matured gone to the university and graduated from medical school in Havana. He now practices medicine in his home town of Jeremie. Max was understanably upset and we mad arragements for a car to transport Max, and his mother and father to Les Cayes to retrieve the body. Funeral arragements are pending. Our prayers go out to Max, his father Matthew and his mother and to his brothers and sisters and to his cousin Serge Severe who is serving as our interprter in their time of grief.
On a happier note, as we returned to the guesthouse Nelson and Tinunu were setting up folding chairs on the lawn for a wedding. As the bride walked down the isle from the rear, the groom walked up the aisle singing a stirring rendition of “Oh Danny Boy” in Creole.
I guess it just shows once again that the ebb and flow of life goes on in Haiti just like the rest of the world.

Seemed like a slow day today. Block makers worked steady, but other areas were in a finishing mode, so each group of men waited for other groups to finish so they could finish. All in all, a good day. 48 dresses and 20 pair of shorts should be completed by Monday. Betty mardis, yes you should be here girl!!!! The red/yellow cards are for soccer (football, here) It does seem to keep everyone in line. We sat in the shade today, and believe it or not, there is a day-care in this village! Team members will share with all when they return about it. No injuries today to report. The men will work tomorrow to prepare floor for concrete, the engineer says blocks will begin Monday. Send us comments, as we long for word from friends!
